The Color of Silence

Silence has no color, yet we often perceive it through light. The Color of Silence explores landscapes in which color is reduced to its most essential presence. Sea, sky, horizon and light remain recognizable, but gradually lose their descriptive function. Color no longer tells us what the world looks like; it becomes part of the space itself. These photographs are not about particular places or particular moments. They are about the point at which a landscape becomes almost abstract — when distance, light and color are enough to create a presence without a narrative. Nothing needs to happen. The image exists in the interval between seeing and interpreting.
